A week after she was disappointed by the party national leadership after abruptly denying her Bengaluru South Lok Sabha seat, which was represented by her late husband since two decades, the BJP Karnataka leadership seems to be taking some corrective measures. Today, she was appointed as the Vice President of the state BJP unit.
Notably, the seat, expected to go to Tejaswini, was represented by her husband Ananth Kumar who passed away in November 2018. As a result of internal factionalism in Karnataka BJP, at the last minute the BJP fielded 28-year-old Karnataka Yuva Morcha General Secretary Tejasvi Surya, even surprising to him.
Former Chief Minister and state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa announced Tejaswini’s appointment on Twitter. Last week, reacting over the news of not being given a party ticket, Ananth Kumar’s wife had said, “It is shocking to all of my supporters and also to me. At the same time, I have been telling them and to myself that it is very important to show that we are a party with a difference. This is the time to show our maturity and to work for the country. Let`s not think of small things and our bigger goal is nation first.”
