Putting an end to speculations since last one month over her re-nomination from the party to contest in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, senior BJP leader and Lok Sabha speaker Sumtira Mahajan today announced that she will not contest in the Lok Sabha elections.
It may be recalled that BJP has been rejection seats to several party veterans, who crossed age of 75 years and Mahajana is turning 76 next week on April 16. Questioning the party’s “indecision” over announcing its candidate for Indore seat, the 8-time MP said that she is making this announcement to enable the party to take a decision on its candidate from here.
“The BJP has not announced its candidate from Indore till date. Why is this indecision? It is possible the party is hesitant taking a call…Therefore, I announce that I will not contest the Lok Sabha elections. The party should take a decision with free heart, without any hesitation,” she added.
