Maneka Gandhi says Rahul can never become Prime Minister

Putting cold showers on Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s ambition of becoming next Prime Minister of the country, Union Minister Maneka Gandhi asserted that Rahul Gandhi can never become the Prime Minister unless there was a miracle. The senior BJP leader also said in an interview to a leading news channel that Priyanka Gandhi, who was appointed as Congress general secretary for UP (East) will have no impact on the forthcoming Lok sabha polls, as she does not have the works.

Earlier on March 27, while speaking to Congress workers in Amethi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had announced that Rahul Gandhi will be the Prime Minister if Congress comes to power. “We will win this (2019) Lok Sabha election and Rahul will become PM,” the Congress general secretary for UP east told party workers.

Last year, the Congress president himself had expressed his desire to become the PM if the Congress or a coalition led by the party voted to power in national elections. Responding to a question on whether he would become the PM, Rahul stated, “That depends on how the Congress performs … if it emerges as the biggest party — yes.” When asked what in case it’s an alliance, he said: “If the Congress is the biggest party, then yes.”

Several Opposition leaders like MK Stalin, Tejashwi Yadav had also projected Congress chief Rahul Gandhi as the prime ministerial candidate of the United Opposition. Earlier this year, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Tejashwi Yadav had that Congress president Rahul Gandhi has all the qualities to make a good Prime Minister. Stalin had also made a strong pitch for the Congress chief as the prime ministerial candidate of Opposition.
