Malegaon Blast Accused Sadhvi Pragya Thakur is all set to contest against Congress veteran Digvijay Singh from Bhopal constituency in Lok Sabha elections. Though the seat is known as a fortress for BJP and its candidates are winning since last three decades, the BJP seems to be locked in nerves after Congress has decided to field its senior leader Digvijay Singh.
Singh was the former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, for ten years, before BJP started its innings in the state 15 years ago. Holding responsibility for party’s defeat in the state, since then he has been keeping away himself for contesting in general elections. He became Rajya Sabha member also recently.
BJP leadership earlier decided to fields its veteran leaders and former chief ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan or Uma Bharati. But both of them declined the party offer, citing some flimsy reasons. Finally, Sadhvi Pragya Thakur expressed her readiness recently.
As an activist of ABVP, she was familiar with Bhopal and having association with several sections of people. Formally, today she joined BJP in the presence of BJP senior leaders Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Ramlal, and Prabhat Jha, at its Bhopal office.
