Cricketer and BJP candidate from East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency Gautam Gambhir has today filed a defamation case against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. The action came in response to the allegations of distributing offensive pamphlets levelled against him by his opponent Atishi.
“I condemn what has happened. I am from a family where I have been taught to respect women. I didn’t know Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would stoop so low. I have filed a defamation case,” he said.
Earlier, yesterday, the cricketer-turned-politician had accused Kejriwal of orchestrating this row to frame him and vowed to withdraw his candidature if proven guilty. He also challenged the AAP chief to quit from the post of Delhi CM if the allegations levelled against him are proved wrong.
He was accused of indulging in a maligning campaign by distributing pamphlets with derogatory language against AAP candidate from East Delhi Atishi.
