Refuting Karnataka BJP chief BS Yeddyurappa’s claim that as many as 20 Congress MLAs in Karnataka are unhappy with the party and would take a decision after May 23 poll results destabilising Congress-JD(S) coalition in the state, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal claims that it was impossible for the BJP to get any of their legislator. In turn, he claims that many BJP legislators are likely to join Congress after poll results naturally.
He asserts that they are not going to poach any MLA from the BJP. “We are very much confident that in the parliamentary election, there will be a government at the Centre under the leadership of the Indian National Congress. The people of the country are now very much for a change and that will happen on May 23,” said Venugopal.
He stated that Karnataka had been witnessing horse-trading mentality of BJP in the last 1 year. “On the other hand, the Congress and JD(S) have joined together,” he said, adding, “We formed the government, we are ruling the state from last 1 year. We will definitely continue.” He also exuded confidence about the formation of a Congress-led government at the Centre.
This statement comes a day after Congress leader and minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan said that state BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa was “daydreaming” about coming to power and claimed that around 10 BJP party MLAs were in touch with his party.
