Bengal poll campaign to end by tomorrow

In view of a major violence broke out during BJP chief Amit Shah’s road show yesterday in Kolkatta, the Election Commission has decided to suspend campaign period, a day head of dead line for the campaign.

State Election Commission announced today that there will be no election campaigning to be held in 9 parliamentary constituencies of West Bengal from 10 pm tomorrow. The constituencies are Dum Dum, Barasat, Basirhat, Jaynagar, Mathurapur, Jadavpur, Diamond Harbour, South and North Kolkata .

The polling is scheduled to be held in the last phase on May 19. Originally the period for campaigning will be ended on May 17th evening. But now in view of prevailing tension in the state between TMC and BJP cadres, the Election Commission has taken extraordinary decision to put an end to campaigning one day advance.
