The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Kolkata was attacked today, a day after violent clash took place on the streets of the city during a massive roadshow by BJP president Amit Shah. The RSS workers alleged a Naxal organisation’s hand to be behind the stone attack at the office. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Interestingly, the police intervened just in time, hence averting any major mishap. Several women were reportedly raising slogans outside the RSS office, who were removed later. Yesterday, while Shah escaped unhurt, a bust of Ishwar Chandra Vidysagar, after whom the college is named, was damaged by the protesters.
Shah had tore to shreds the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government’s claim that the BJP was behind the violence in the state. He said, “Mamata Banerjee claims that BJP is doing it… I want to tell her, we are fighting in every state in the nation, unlike you on 42 seats in West Bengal. Violence didn’t take place in six phases of elections anywhere but Bengal which proves that TMC is responsible for it.”
