Jagan to scrap all contracts if they found to be irregular

Andra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy wasted no time in getting down to business after being sworn in today morning. promised to overhaul the administration from top to bottom within a period of six months to one year. He announced scrapping all contracts if they were found to be irregular or tainted with corruption and introducing reverse tendering and presenting facts on the corruption indulged in during the previous regime

He also announced reducing power tariffs as wind power per unit costs more than the global rate in AP. He promised to bring down the power supply prices by renegotiating Power Purchase Agreements. He said that Chief Justice will be asked to appoint a judicial commission headed by a sitting judge to ensure transparency in awarding contracts

Earlier, Governor ESL Narasimhan had administered the oath of office and secrecy and left the venue after the swearing-in ceremony was formally over. Reddy had taken the oath, in the name of God, as second Chief Minister of the State at the tastefully decorated Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium at the appointed hour of 12.23 minutes amidst family members, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, his Deputy Mahmood Ali, Speaker Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy, Thalasani Srinivas Yadav and other leaders, DMK Chief MK Stalin, large number of party leaders, cadre and multitude of fans who thronged the stadium from the wee hours itself.

Hinting that the corrupt deals of the previous government will be exposed, Reddy said that wherever there has been corruption, the deals would be exposed by putting them on public domain and we will go for reverse tenders by changing the precondition to allow more participation and the process will be done in a transparent manner without any frills. The corruption in the previous government was so rampant that windmill power was purchased at more than double amount of the normal price and peak hour price was still more.

‘I will seek an appointment with the High Court Chief Justice and request him to provide one Judge for heading the Judicial Commission that will clear all contracts. Cases of distortion of facts in the media would face defamation cases,’ he said.  At the conclusion of the speech when he took the name of YSR there was a thundering applause and his mother and Honorary President Smt YS Vijayamma, who held the Party reins during his absence, had become highly emotional and the proud movement was recorded as a touching scene on the dais.
