2 Trinamool workers killed in West Bengal

Two Trinamool Congress workers have been killed in two days in West Bengal with the latest death being reported from North Bengal’s Cooch Behar. Another party worker was killed in North 24 Paraganas on Tuesday. Trinamool supporters have put the blame for both killings on BJP.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be visiting the deceased, Nirmal Kundu’s residence today evening. Nirmal Kundu was shot dead on the streets by the assailants who later fled. After looking at CCTV footage, police have arrested two people Suman Kundu and Sujay Das, who are known for their affiliation with the BJP.

Meanwhile, in another incident, TMC worker Ajijar Ali was killed in Cooch Behar yesterday. The killing triggered clashes in the Dinhata area. Ajijar Ali was returning home when he was killed by alleged BJP workers. This has led to tension in the area.

Trinamool workers will be observing a black day today for the killing. On the contrary, BJP will hold a victory celebration in Naihati to celebrate securing the Naihati Municipality after the councilor recently moved to BJP. MP and state president Dilip Ghosh is expected to attend the celebrations.
