Congress MLAs from Mumbai shifted to Goa

Karnataka Congress MLAs who are staying in Mumbai had planned to shift to Goa. However, now the rebels have been shifted to an undisclosed location in Mumbai.

This shift comes after the Youth Congress workers started protests outside Sofitel hotel in Bandra and Congress troubleshooter D K Shivakumar headed for Mumbai. They are being accompanied by Mumbai BJP youth president Mohit Bharatiya.

Earlier, all Janata Dal Secular (JDS) ministers resigned. Later, Chief Minister H D Kumarawamy announced that the Cabinet would be restructured soon. “I am not anxious about the recent developments,” Kumaraswamy said of the crisis that has engulfed his government.

Karnataka crises reached a climax last evening with the coalition government effectively reduced to a minority with two independent MLAs-turned-ministers — R Shankar and H Nagesh — withdrawing their support. The sinking government’s fate now depends on the Speaker’s decision on the resignations of the 13 MLAs and if he accepts them, the ball will be in the governor’s court.
