Azad accuses BJP of triggering Karnataka crisis

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad lambasted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for causing the ongoing political turmoil in Karnataka and also accused the saffron party of using Governors to topple the government in states. Azad’s comments came after he visited Bengaluru to hold talks with the state’s Congress leaders amid the political storm that continues to grip the state.

After the meeting with Congress leaders, Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “State after state, opposition Government are being toppled and Government of India is using Governors for this. From Arunachal Pradesh to Karnataka, Governor’s side with defectors and help them in coming out of Congress. We appeal to the nation to rise to the occasion to save this democracy.”

The Congress has once again brought the saffron party into its crosshairs alleging that the party is trying to destabilise the Congress-JDS government in Karnataka by poaching the coalition government’s MLAs.
