The Grand Alliance or Mahagathbandhan in Bihar is uncertain over inviting Bihar Chief Ministser and JDU chief Nitish Kumar into their fold, keeping in view of strained relations between BJP and JDU. While Congress is making hectic moves to lure Nitish Kumar, RJD seems to be not in a mood to appreciate any such move.
RJD’ Tejashwi Yadav has clearly dismissed all speculation about Kumar’s return to the Alliance. He has also made it clear that no request has been made by the RJD to enter the alliance.
Bihar is up for its Assembly polls in 2020 and parties are preparing themselves for challenges. A tussle between the JDU and its ally BJP over Chief Ministership has raised a ray of hope among opposition parties.
A crack between the NDA allies can turn the politics of the state in the opposition’s favour, if Kumar decides to rejoin the alliance. However, the Mahagathbandhan itself is witnessing schism in its constituents.
Congress party spokesperson Rajesh Rathod has said the party high command and the Mahagathbandhan will decide whether to allow JDU’s return. “Whichever party or person believes in Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology, believes in Congress ideology, believe’s in Sonia and Rahul’s ideology, our doors are open for them.”
Striking a different tone, RJD MLA Rahul Tiwari argued that Congress talks about ideology but Nitish Kumar has no ideology at all. “Kumar’s ideology is just the (CM) chair. There’s a big difference in our views. We talk of poor teachers and taking all religions together,” said Tiwari.
