Bengaluru, 6 Dec: Bengaluru today witnessed a State Level Vendor Development Meet conducted at the MSME-Development Institute, Rajajinagar in collaboration with District Industries Centre (DIC), Govt. of Karnataka and Republican Chamber of India (RCI) which was participated by 3 PSUs providing details about opportunities available for MSMEs to apply as part of the public procurement policy.
The program was inaugurated by

- Shri Siddalingappa B Pujari, Joint Director, DIC, Bengaluru Urban
- Shri Manoj Gowtham, President, RCI
Various technical sessions were organized where experts from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) and South Western Railway participated, who provided information on the opportunities available for MSMEs as part of the Public Procurement Policy as set up by the Government of India.
As per the Public Procurement Policy for MSMEs, every central ministry/department/ PSUs shall set an annual target for 25% procurement from the MSME sector. Also out of this a Sub target of 5% shall be earmarked for procurement from MSMEs owned by SC/ST entrepreneurs
Also, the event saw a presentation by Mr. Gowtham of Government E-Market Place (GEM), Karnataka about opportunities available in the GEM portal for online procurement of common use Goods & Services required by various Government Departments / Organisations / PSUs.
